President Mary Yeomans and Co-President Carol Houston have chosen the theme Gardening Nourishes the Soul for their administration.

Punta Gorda Garden Club Supports the Following Projects

Local Projects
Arbor Day – Tree plantings in the community
Charlotte County Home and Garden Show – Display promoting club membership
Charlotte County Public Schools:

  • East Elementary Hands on projects with students
  • Sallie Jones Elementary– Hands on projects with students
  • Charlotte High School – Gardening at History Park Community Garden
  • Florida Southwest Collegiate High School – Help teacher of Horticulture Course plan and design gardens

First United Methodist Church – Holiday decorating for the Sanctuary and Bryant Life Center
Punta Gorda Public Gardens – The club maintains these gardens with monthly workdays providing plants, mulch and general upkeep.

  • Elise Haymans Butterfly Garden at Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center

TEAM Punta Gorda – Partnership in beautification of Punta Gorda.
Charlotte Habitat for Humanity – Plants installed at homes

Monetary Donations

Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center – Supporting  education of the public   about environmental awareness and conservation of resources.
College Scholarships – Students from Port Charlotte High School, Charlotte High School, Lemon Bay High School and Southwest Florida Collegiate High School are eligible for club provided scholarships in the Environmental, Horticulture, Biology, or related fields of study.
Green Thumbs Gardeners – Monetary donation for the Nature Park in Punta Gorda Isles.  Donation
ECHO: Educational Concerns Hunger Organization – Contribution to their fighting world hunger.
Keep Charlotte Beautiful –Monetary donation to support two events, participation by members at these events.
Peace River Botanical Gardens – Monetary donation for improvements at the gardens, members work to maintain entrance shrubbery several times a year.
Peace River Wildlife Center – Monetary donation for the upkeep of the wildlife sanctuary
