  1. First, put your cursor on a place in a page where you want to insert columns.
  2. Now click on the square-brackets button on the editing toolbar above. The square-brackets icon looks like this:  [ ]
  3. When you click the icon a window opens. Click on the number of columns you want; e.g., the first example below sets up 2 columns so you click on “one_half” to insert the shortcodes that set up the first column to occupy the first half of the page.
  4. Now insert your cursor between the shortcodes and type your heading for that column. With the cursor at the end of the last letter of your heading, click “Enter” on your keyboard so you move the cursor to the next line so you can insert your paragraph text. Now type your content (text, insert image(s), links, etc.) paragraph for that column.
  5. After you are finished with the content of the first column, you are ready to set up the next column. To do this, put your cursor at the right side of the closing shortcode: e.g., [/one_half]
  6. Now click “Enter” to move the cursor to a new line.
  7. Now click the short-codes icon (the square brackets) on your editing toolbar and select “one_half_last” and it will insert the shortcodes for the 2nd column.

“Gallery”

To insert several pictures that you want to appear together in a matrix, use the Gallery tool instead of inserting them individually.

  • To insert a gallery, put the cursor on the page and location where you want the gallery to appear.
  • Then click “Add Media” button just above your visual-editor toolbar. Your media library will open. In the Media Library window click “Create Gallery” in the top left corner to open your Gallery window.
  • In the Gallery window, select the desired pictures by clicking on each one.
  • Now click “Create Gallery” in the bottom right corner.
  • Your gallery editor window opens again. Now you can add or delete pictures to your gallery; or arrange your pictures by dragging them. You can even add captions to the pictures.
  • After you are satisfied with the pics and their arrangement, look at the right sidebar and you will see a heading “Gallery Settings”.
  • The first setting “Link To” should be set at “Media File”.
  • The second setting “Columns” lets you set the number of columns you want in the gallery matrix.
  • Ignore the setting “Random Order.” Set the size to “Thumbnail.”
  • When satisfied, click “insert gallery” in the bottom right corner and the gallery is automatically inserted into the appropriate page and location.
  • If you don’t like the way the gallery looks, click on any picture in the gallery and the Gallery window re-opens so you can add/delete pictures, add captions, change the number of columns, etc.
