Operator Toptal: Airtable Process Automation Expert

Design and build end-to-end Airtable workflow automation systems, integrations, and process logic for client operations.

Senior Remote Posted about 8 hours ago We Work Remotely — Programming
What this role involves

Headquarters: Remote
URL: https://www.toptal.com/

About the Role

We're looking for an Airtable Process Automation Expert to design, build, and optimize workflow systems that eliminate manual busywork for growing teams. This is not a "set up a base" role — you'll be architecting end-to-end operational systems: automations, integrations, and process logic that fundamentally change how a business runs day to day.

You'll work directly with clients to translate messy, manual processes into clean, scalable Airtable-based systems — often integrating with other tools in their stack.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build custom Airtable bases, interfaces, and automations tailored to a client's specific operational workflows

  • Map existing manual processes and re-architect them into automated, self-maintaining systems

  • Build integrations between Airtable and third-party tools (Zapier, Make, Slack, Gmail, native APIs) to create seamless cross-platform workflows

  • Write and maintain Airtable scripting (JavaScript) for advanced automation logic beyond native no-code capabilities

  • Design relational data structures and table architecture that scale as client needs grow

  • Create intuitive interfaces and views for non-technical end users, ensuring adoption without a steep learning curve

  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing Airtable systems that have become slow, fragile, or overly complex

  • Document systems clearly so clients can maintain and extend them after handoff

  • Communicate directly with clients to gather requirements, set expectations, and explain technical tradeoffs in plain language

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building in Airtable, including advanced automation and scripting

  • Demonstrated experience integrating Airtable with tools like Zapier, Make, or via native/REST APIs

  • Strong process-mapping and systems-thinking skills — you can see the full workflow before you start building

  • Experience designing for non-technical teams, with systems that are adopted and actually used, not abandoned

  • Comfortable working independently and communicating asynchronously with distributed, remote teams

  • A portfolio or examples of past Airtable automation projects you can speak to

Nice to Have

  • Experience with other no-code/low-code platforms (Notion, Make, Retool, Glide)

  • Background in operations, business process consulting, or a related field

  • Familiarity with JavaScript beyond Airtable's scripting block

  • Experience working with global clients in a consulting/freelance capacity

RATE: $80-$105/hr. USD

Operator GTM AI Engineer at Customer.io

Takes AI agents from prototype to production by building scalability, observability, deployment infrastructure, and monitoring systems for GTM teams.

Mid Posted 2 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About Customer.io

Over 9,000 companies — from scrappy startups to global brands — use our platform to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS every day. Customer.io powers automated communication that people actually want to receive. We help teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data.

About the role

Hi, my name is Nick Guardino, Senior Director of Marketing Ops at Customer.io, and I’m looking for a GTM AI Engineer to help take our AI agents from scrappy prototypes to production-grade systems our GTM teams can depend on.

Over the last 3.5 months, our GTM AI team has built 11 agents now running in production, serving 120 active users and roughly 25,000 tool calls a day — all through custom CLIs that work, but weren’t built to scale. We believe businesses can run leaner and go further when they deploy AI agents well, and we’re figuring out that motion in real time. This role owns the scale and reliability layer so the rest of the team can keep building.

What we value

  • Craft over quick wins — energized by making things robust, not just making them work.
  • A point of view — we want someone who asks “why did you build it that way?” and has a specific answer for what to do instead.
  • Comfortable being wrong — you try things fast, and you course-correct just as fast.
  • AI-native by default — you’d rather direct Claude to write and QA code than write it by hand.

What you’ll do

  • Alpha-to-production ownership — take newly built agents from working v1 to production-ready: write evals, harden prompts and tool definitions, and refactor prototype scaffolding into clean, production-quality code.
  • Observability & stability — instrument tracing, logging, and monitoring across the agent fleet so we catch regressions before our 120+ GTM users do.
  • Deployment & infrastructure — stand up and maintain the pipelines that get agents into users’ hands without surprises, owning environment parity and release hygiene on our GCP stack.
  • Database administration — own how agents read from and write to our databases, safely and at scale.
  • Fleet maintenance — monitor agent behavior in production, triage issues, and ship the steady stream of improvements that make an agent indispensable rather than just useful.
  • Partner closely with the GTM AI team — free up our agent builders to stay in their zero-to-one wheelhouse while you own scale and reliability.
  • Bring an outside point of view — tell us what we built wrong, and back it up with a plan to fix it.

What we’re looking for

  • 4+ years in software engineering, platform/infrastructure engineering, or a similarly technical role, ideally at a B2B SaaS company.
  • Comfort working in the terminal daily, with a real GitHub PR-and-deploy workflow.
  • Cloud hosting experience — Kubernetes, VMs, or equivalent; Google Cloud experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with how agents interact with and edit databases, including some hands-on database administration.
  • Familiarity with LLM-based application development: prompt engineering, tool/function calling, evals, and modern agent frameworks.
  • Ability to prompt AI tools correctly, review their output critically, and direct them to QA their own work — this is an AI-native role, not a hand-coding one.
  • Scrappy enough to iterate fast, disciplined enough to think about consistency once something needs to scale.
  • A point of view, and the willingness to ask “why did you build it that way?”

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in transparency. Starting salary for this role is $140,000–$170,000 USD (or equivalent in local currency) depending on experience and subject to market rate adjustment.

We know our people are what make us great, and we’re committed to taking great care of them. Our inclusive benefits package supports your well-being and growth, including 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance premiums for you and your family. We also offer 16 weeks paid parental leave, unlimited PTO, stipends for remote work and wellness, a professional development budget, and more.

See full benefits here →

Our Process

No gotchas, no trick questions - just a clear, human process designed to help both of us make an informed decision.

  1. 30-minute Zoom call with Recruiter
  2. 45-minute Zoom call with Hiring Manager
  3. 45-minute Zoom call with a member of the GTM AI team
  4. 60-minute Live technical session with the team

All final candidates will be asked to complete a background check and employment verifications as part of our pre-employment process.

Customer.io recognizes the stifling impact of systemic injustice on diverse communities. We commit to using our influence to increase inclusion and equity within the tech industry. We strive to build an inclusive team culture, implement bias-free hiring practices, and develop community partnerships to expand our global impact.

Zoom is the only video conference platform that we use, virtual interviews will be conducted using the video capability (i.e., not via the chat), and offers will be extended in writing on official Customer.io letterhead. Please be vigilant in all of your job search activity, and if you have any questions please contact jobs@customer.io.

Operator Senior Implementation Engineer at Tonkean

Designs and builds sophisticated no-code workflow applications for enterprises, orchestrating AI, integrations, and business logic across systems.

Senior Posted 2 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Tonkean is the world’s first totally customizable process experience platform. With Tonkean, you can create intelligent, personalized automations that integrate with every app or system your organization uses. You can cultivate an employee experience that democratizes access to innovative technologies traditionally only available to highly trained developers. You can enable employees to focus more fully on high-value tasks, because you can enable them to automate low-value tasks. You can create inbox solutions that automatically analyze, prioritize, and route unstructured requests coming from any source, and you can track the status of action items as employees collaborate across teams to complete them. And you can design processes that employees are guaranteed to adopt and benefit from no matter their technical acumen, because Tonkean meets employees where they are—eliminating the need for change management—and is 100% no-code.

At Tonkean, we believe that all this—compliance, efficiency, operational excellence—requires high levels of process adoption. But to ensure high levels of process adoption, you need to create processes that provide a great employee experience: that serve employees’ needs, understand their preferences, and solve their problems.

To that end, you need a barrier-breaking technology partner. That’s what Tonkean seeks to be.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Senior Implementation Engineer, you will design and build sophisticated workflow applications for some of the world’s largest enterprises using Tonkean’s no-code platform.

This is not a traditional implementation or configuration role.

You will think like a software engineer—breaking down business problems into logical systems, designing data flows, integrating data sources, troubleshooting complex behaviors, and building scalable solutions—without writing production application code.

Every customer implementation is different. You’ll build intelligent workflows that orchestrate people, systems, AI, and business rules across dozens of enterprise applications.

If you enjoy solving technical puzzles, thinking in systems, and building software that customers immediately use, you’ll thrive here.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Design and build production-ready workflow applications that combine AI, business logic, enterprise integrations, and intuitive user experiences to solve complex business challenges.

  • Translate customer requirements into scalable technical solutions, designing workflow logic that accounts for real-world complexity, edge cases, and evolving business needs.

  • Build intelligent automations that orchestrate approvals, routing, SLAs, exception handling, and business rules across enterprise processes.

  • Connect enterprise systems using native connectors, and data transformations to create seamless end-to-end workflows.

  • Create AI-powered experiences that analyze requests, automate decisions, and guide users through complex business processes.

  • Troubleshoot workflows, integrations, and data synchronization issues while optimizing performance and reliability.

  • Collaborate with workflow architects and customers to iterate on solutions throughout implementation, testing, and deployment.

  • Develop reusable workflow components, implementation patterns, and best practices that improve delivery across the organization.

  • Demonstrate completed solutions to customers, incorporate feedback, and contribute ideas that shape the future of the Tonkean platform.

ABOUT YOU

  • 5+ years designing or building technical solutions for enterprise customers.

  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable workflows and automation.

  • Experience implementing SaaS, workflow automation, integration, or low-code solutions in complex enterprise environments.

  • Familiarity with JSON, data transformations, and system integrations.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose technical issues where there isn’t an obvious answer.

  • Comfortable learning new technologies, products, and business domains quickly.

  • Experience translating technical documentation and customer requirements into working solutions.

  • Excellent logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

  • Comfortable working directly with customers to understand requirements, demonstrate solutions, and iterate based on feedback.

  • Experience with workflow automation, integration, or low-code platforms.

  • Software development experience in any language.

  • Experience working with AI-powered products or enterprise automation.

OUR VALUES

  • There Is Always A Way. Nothing is impossible. Every problem has a solution—you just need to find it.
  • Think People First. We invest in and prioritize people. We win as a team, listen with purpose, and value diversity.
  • Start With Why And Fail Fast. Action and progress drive innovation. Every “how” begins with a meaningful “why.”
  • No BS. Stay focused, keep it simple, and always move the needle.

PERKS AND BENEFITS

  • Competitive compensation & equity package
  • Virtual social events, and annual company offsite
  • 401k, Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Tonkean provides each employee with a MacBook Pro and a one-time work from home setup stipend of $1000(USD) upon commencing employment to purchase desk, chair and other work from home tools.

$145,000 - $165,000 a year

This role offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary, performance-based incentives, and equity opportunities. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. Tonkean also offers a comprehensive benefits package to support the well-being of our employees.

Tonkean welcomes everyone. We believe every member of our team enriches our diversity and inclusion by broadening our ways of problem-solving for future challenges. Even if you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications for this job, we strongly encourage you to apply.

Tonkean is an Equal Opportunity Employer and participates in the U.S. Federal E-Verify program. We believe diversity is important to building a successful business and do not discriminate based upon race, religion, color, national origin, sex, reproductive health decisions or related medical conditions, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, genetic information, political views or activity, or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.

The GTM Sales Engineer & AI solutions is the core functional driver of this transformation within the Retail vertical. As an expert in applied AI, you will own the centralized deployment of AI applications to directly improve Productivity Per Rep (PPR). You will drive AI-powered productivity and automation across Retail sales, working with AEs and BDR/SDR teams to accelerate sales and with Onboarding to streamline the path to Customer Go-Live, with the opportunity to grow your impact across other GTM and client-facing teams as the vertical scales. You will be the operational linchpin running the Retail AI GTM Pod, architecting a continuous feedback loop sourcing grassroots ideas from the frontline, filtering them through a business lens, and scaling them into production tools.

This is a technical, builder-focused role. You will observe decentralized AI applications working across the organization and partner to accelerate their impact, making them structurally better, integrating them into core systems, and maintaining them long-term. While you will partner with central corporate operations and marketing to advocate for Retail use cases and scale company-wide efficiencies, you will also possess the autonomous engineering capabilities to construct vertical-specific pipelines when distinct merchant workflows require it. This role sits in Revenue Operations, but will also dotted-line report into engineering.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

AI GTM Pod Governance & Solution Sourcing

  • Leadership & Facilitation: Stand up the Retail AI GTM Pod to surface, qualify, and scale AI applications across the Retail field. The model could be a working group of AI-forward reps, managers, and leaders organized around defined themes in Sales & Onboarding, contributing domain expertise and frontline signals. The pod functions as an intake mechanism and sounding board, surfacing field experiments, pressure-testing priorities, and keeping your roadmap grounded in what moves the business.
  • Idea & Solution Sourcing: Serve as the production engine for ideas surfacing through the pod and field. Evaluate what is worth scaling, determine the right build, buy, or borrow path, and take the strongest ideas from experiment to production tool—launching with Enablement to non-technical end-users and maintaining active ownership through adoption tracking, feedback, and iteration.
  • Build vs. Buy Evaluation: Lead technical discovery to determine the most efficient path for problem statements, assessing whether to build a custom agentic solution, stitch existing APIs, or coordinate with vendors to purchase a scalable product.
  • Roadmap Prioritization: Translate decisions into a sprint-based roadmap, prioritizing developments based strictly on their potential to drive vertical PPR and eliminate administrative friction.

Applied Engineering & Systems Integration

  • Agile Sprint Execution: Maintain and execute against a technical scrum board, operating on defined sprint cycles to continuously ship, test, and iterate on AI-powered features.
  • Industrializing Frontline Wins: Take successful, unscaled local experiments (e.g., territory expansion scoring, contact discovery pipelines, multi-intent category parsers) and harden them with error handling, version control, scalable code, and secure coding practices like input validation, secrets management, and mitigation of LLM risks (e.g., prompt injection).
  • Systems Integration: Coordinate integration efforts to map vertical AI outputs into core GTM platforms (Salesforce, Snowflake, Taskray), ensuring local applications enhance rather than disrupt foundational enterprise pipelines.
  • Data Integrity Architecture: Build & monitor data validation frameworks ensuring model inputs are pristine and outputs are entirely auditable and trusted by the field.
  • Application Security: Design & enforce security controls for Retail AI applications, including authentication/authorization frameworks, secrets management, access controls on model outputs, and mitigations for LLM risks (prompt injection, data exfiltration). Ensure builds meet Toast’s security standards given system proximity to payment and customer data workflows.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Strategic Radar

  • Enterprise Collaboration: Contribute to cross-functional AI coordination cadences connecting Revenue Operations, Marketing AI, and Business Technology teams across Toast. Align on company-wide AI investments, advocate for Retail use cases and merchant requirements in shared roadmaps, and identify where central efforts can be leveraged, adapted, or extended. Serve as Retail’s active voice in sequencing these shared initiatives while staying coordinated.
  • Vertical Personalization: Monitor central enterprise tool developments (e.g., prospecting or enablement agent suites) to identify opportunities to clone, customize, or extend for Retail merchant types.
  • Bidirectional Knowledge Exchange: Establish a pipeline for sharing locally developed code, architecture patterns, and prompt structures with central teams, ensuring Retail’s breakthroughs help elevate Toast’s engineering ecosystem.

Fluency, Enablement & Training Loops

  • AI Fluency Leadership: Design and execute vertical-wide enablement tracks to build a baseline of confident, independent AI tool usage across sales reps, onboarding consultants, and managers.
  • Adoption Analytics: Build & monitor adoption tracking mechanisms for deployed AI solutions, ensuring training translates into consistent field usage and measurable reductions in level of effort (LOE).

What you’ll need to thrive (Requirements)

  • Applied AI Deployment: 4+ years of experience in a technical, analytical, or GTM operations role, with a track record of owning the full deployment lifecycle of applied AI applications, RAG pipelines, or agentic workflows, including post-launch monitoring, alerting, rollback procedures, and model version management.
  • Modern AI Toolchain Literacy: Advanced, hands-on proficiency with developer-focused AI tools, specifically the Gemini Suite, Claude Cowork, and Claude Code.
  • Modern Deployment Stack: Experience deploying and operating AI backend systems in production (API services, model inference pipelines, orchestration layers), with demonstrated ownership through reliability, observability, and incident response.

Operator Head of AI Engineering & Enablement at Tebra

Leads AI strategy and hands-on implementation of internal automation, designing and building agents to re-engineer workflows across business operations.

Lead Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Tebra only initiates contact with candidates via email from an official Tebra email address (@tebra.com, @patientpop.com, or @kareo.com) or through our applicant tracking system, Greenhouse. We will only ask you to provide sensitive personal information through our official application portal — not via social media or text message. We do not conduct interviews via instant messaging.

About the Role

We are hiring a hands-on player coach to lead AI across how Tebra runs as a company. You will be building alongside a small team of one to two engineers while simultaneously leading process re-engineering engagements with functional leaders. You will ship code, design agents and re-engineer workflows, while also leading the team around you.

With a small team, this role will focus on our internal operations — not the AI in our product. It covers how every function works, how fast we move, and how much leverage each person has. As we scale toward $300M+ in ARR, the goal is to decouple growth from headcount and build an operation that runs leaner as it gets bigger.

Most of the value comes from re-engineering the work itself, so you will pair deep engineering and applied AI skill with strong business judgment and a relentless focus on outcomes.

Your Area of Focus

AI Strategy & Use Case Discovery

  • Work with the CEO, CFO, and CPO to identify where AI can drive the greatest efficiency and operating leverage across the organization, and prioritize accordingly.
  • Audit and re-engineer business processes before automating them, so we improve how the work is done and not just how fast it runs.
  • Build and maintain an AI Opportunity roadmap that prioritizes use cases by ROI, feasibility and strategic impact in partnership with the functional leaders.

Build the Hardest Workflows

  • Perform deep-dive assessments to identify the highest-impact efficiency opportunities across all operating functions — then build them, don’t just document them.
  • Design and build high-value internal agents and automations that address the hardest problems inside our operating functions. Stay hands-on in the build yourself; this is not a role where you commission others and review outputs.
  • Own the shared patterns for retrieval, agent design, and secure system-of-record connectivity — including MCP servers, agent-to-agent orchestration, and API integrations — with permission-aware access across Gong, Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake, Slack, and Workato.
  • Design multi-agent systems where specialized agents hand off to each other across workflow steps, not just single agent automation.
  • Build and maintain the organizational context layer, the connective tissue that makes Tebra queryable; meeting capture, knowledge connectors, MCP servers into our core systems and permission aware retrieval so agents and people have a single source of truth.
  • Develop and maintain a library of reusable skills, frameworks, and how to guide, allowing one person’s breakthrough workflow scale to the entire organization and the programs compound over time.
  • Own the full lifecycle from rapid prototyping to production-grade deployment, including monitoring, evaluation frameworks, error handling, and iteration based on real usage data.

Governance

  • Define the approved tools, data-handling rules, build standards, and a shared reference architecture for AI across Tebra’s operating functions, in partnership with Legal and Security.
  • Own how agents are deployed and monitored once live, ensuring full HIPAA compliance and strict adherence to our data privacy and security policies for PHI, without slowing teams down.
  • Stand up an AI risk register, acceptable use policy, and audit trail standards for all production agents, and maintain them as the tooling landscape evolves.

Enable the Functions

  • Partner with each function to find high-value use cases and help them build and ship the more routine, accessible agents themselves.
  • Coach AI owners inside each function, and run enablement and fluency programs so adoption scales beyond the central team.
  • Build genuine on-ramps for less-technical teams: role-specific training, prompt libraries, office hours, and ready-to-use templates that make AI approachable across every level of the org.
  • Continuously identify emerging AI tooling, methodologies, and agent frameworks — evaluate new models and techniques to keep Tebra ahead of the curve.

Your Professional Qualifications

Technical Foundation

  • 8+ years in software engineering, applied AI, or technical product roles, with a meaningful stretch spent hands-on and building in production — not directing from a distance.
  • An engineering background you still use. You can read and write code and ship production systems, not only manage people who do.
  • Deep applied AI experience designing and deploying multi-agents systems, RAG pipelines, agent-to-agent orchestrations, MCP servers, and API integrations into systems of record, and LLM-based workflows in production.
  • Hands-on experience shipping AI in a HIPAA-regulated or comparable environment — working within BAAs, maintaining audit trails, and keeping PHI out of non-covered tools.

Business & Operational Judgment

  • A track record on operationally focused technology projects — workflow automation, systems integration, internal tooling — that demonstrably changed how a business runs.
  • Strong business acumen. You can sit with a function leader, understand their workflow end-to-end, and translate it into the right automation — including knowing when the right answer is to redesign the process first.
  • A process re-engineering instinct, with the judgment to fix the work before automating it.

Change Leadership & Adoption

  • A proven track record of driving adoption and behavior change within non-technical teams — not just shipping the tools, but building champions, running training, and sustaining usage until it becomes a habit.
  • Experience leading a small team and coaching others to build while staying hands-on yourself.
  • Excellent communication. You can brief the CEO and pair with an engineer on the same day, and those conversations feel equally natural.

Location

  • Although this position is remote, our strong preference is for candidates to be located on the West Coast or Pacific Time Zone.

We’re looking for an Agentic Engineer to bridge the gap between our AI platform and customer outcomes. You’ll take the platform capabilities our engineering teams build—agents, workflows, memory, reasoning, integrations, and tools—and turn them into polished, customer-ready applications that demonstrate immediate value.

This is an engineering role for someone who enjoys building end-to-end experiences. You’ll work directly with product and platform engineers to rapidly build, iterate, and ship AI applications that align with real operational value.

Responsibilities:

  • Build agentic applications that solve real customer use cases using our platform capabilities.
  • Design agentic workflows, plugins, and tool integrations that deliver measurable customer value.
  • Translate ambiguous problems into intuitive AI experiences.
  • Rapidly build new applications, gather feedback, and iterate into production-ready solutions.
  • Partner closely with platform engineers to inform abstractions and reusable components.
  • Identify common patterns across customer deployments and help evolve them into reusable products.
  • Own customer-facing quality—from UX and reliability to performance and evaluation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of software engineering experience
  • Experience building production-ready agentic AI applications using AI agents, workflows, MCP, and tool orchestration.
  • Ability to move quickly from idea to working product while maintaining high engineering quality.
  • Strong product instincts—you care about whether something is useful, not just technically impressive.
  • Experience integrating APIs, enterprise systems, and external data sources.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering and product teams
  • Growth mindset and low ego- you’re eager to pick up new tools and technologies, learn from others, and be open to changing course when it’s right.
  • Drive to foster a culture of collaboration, psychological safety, and technical excellence.
  • Strong advocate for inclusion in technical discussions at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Start-up experience or comfort in 0→1 product environments.
  • Solid understanding of AI security practices including RBAC/ABAC, audit logging, and prompt-level safeguards
  • Exposure to regulated or sensitive industry environments (finance, healthcare, telecoms)
