Research Applied Scientist (Integrity) at Prolific

Applied scientist builds ML and statistical systems to detect fraud and validate participant quality on a human data platform, turning ambiguous problems into production-ready solutions.

Senior Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Applied Scientist (Integrity)

Prolific is building the human data infrastructure that powers the next generation of AI systems. As frontier AI labs scale their use of human-generated data for training, evaluation, and alignment, the way we measure quality, performance, and operational efficiency becomes increasingly important.

The Role

You’ll join Prolific’s Integrity team, which protects the platform from fraud and misuse. This is a new role focused on verification - in particular identifying and validating high quality expert participants. This is an emerging area, so part of the role will be to shape the problem space:  working with other teams to find, validate and model useful signals for participant quality. The ideal candidate will help define the right problems to solve, not just execute against a fixed brief.

The Applied Scientist role combines data science, ML and statistics to build practical systems that drive real business outcomes. This isn’t a pure research role, although you may explore papers and explore new ideas. The focus is on turning promising approaches into production ready solutions. It is also not an ML engineering role: you don’t need engineering experience, but you should understand what deploying a model involves and the practical constraints around it. We care about approaches that actually work in production, not ones that are too slow or expensive to run, and about the judgement to tell the difference.

How You’ll Work

  • You’ll be the first data person in this area, so you’ll help shape the role and create structure where there isn’t much yet, with support from leadership. You don’t need to have all the answers on day one.
  • You spot problems worth solving and start on them, rather than waiting to be assigned.
  • You will be comfortable (and ideally enjoy) collaborating with others.

What We are looking for

  • Deep expertise in one applied ML, statistics, or data science specialism. Examples could be risk modelling, LLM detection, and reinforcement learning, but any area of genuine depth counts
  • Judgement about when to reach for simple statistics, classical ML, LLMs, or agentic approaches.
  • 3+ years applying ML, AI research, or data science to real problems.
  • Python skills sufficient to build, test, and iterate on working prototypes independently.
  • Able to take a loosely defined product or customer problem and turn it into clear hypotheses, experiments, and metrics.
  • You must be comfortable working on ambiguous problems, and suggesting solutions rather than waiting to be told exactly what to do.

Nice to have

  • An MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, ML, or a related field — or equivalent knowledge gained another way.
  • Experience working alongside product and engineering teams.

Why Prolific is a great place to work

We’ve built a unique platform that connects researchers and companies with a global pool of participants, enabling the collection of high-quality, ethically sourced human behavioural data and feedback. This data is the cornerstone of developing more accurate, nuanced, and aligned AI systems.

We believe that the next leap in AI capabilities won’t come solely from scaling existing models, but from integrating diverse human perspectives and behaviours into AI development. By providing this crucial human data infrastructure, Prolific is positioning itself at the forefront of the next wave of AI innovation – one that reflects the breadth and the best of humanity.

Working for us will place you at the forefront of AI innovation, providing access to our unique human data platform and opportunities for groundbreaking research. Join us to enjoy a competitive salary, benefits, and remote working within our impactful, mission-driven culture.

Research Pesquisador em Teoria da Mudança

Develops a Theory of Change framework for a sustainable economy transition initiative, mapping impact vision to concrete interventions and outcomes.

Senior Posted 4 days ago RemoteOK Dev
What this role involves

What this role involves

Do you want to empower organizations to build smarter compensation strategies while ensuring fair pay for all employees?

Syndio is the leading pay governance and compensation intelligence platform. We help organizations make better pay decisions at every stage of the compensation lifecycle, from leveling and offers to promotions and merit. Our platform gives HR, compensation, and finance leaders the data and decision support they need to govern pay fairly, compliantly, and with confidence. We partner with many of the world’s most recognized and respected enterprises, helping them implement leading-edge compensation solutions with expert guidance and analyzing pay for over 10 million employees across the world.

Join us in our mission to help companies make smarter pay decisions they can trust!

About the role

Syndio is the platform more than half the Fortune 100 trust to govern pay decisions, built on a decade of pay equity work and millions of real pay records. The Future of Pay Lab is our research, narrative, and category engine — the team making pay a strategic decision rather than a compliance afterthought, and defining decision intelligence for pay as a category before anyone else does.

We’re hiring a Senior Research Scientist to connect rigorous science with real, measurable impact. This is an ownership role for someone who wants to work at the intersection of psychology, data, and product strategy, and to carry an idea all the way from the literature to a partner’s boardroom.

Why this job is exciting

  • Lead insight strategy. Build the frameworks that turn complex data and psychological science into insights people can act on — for our products and for our partners.
  • Own the path from science to practice. Source from the research, design the data architecture and measurement models, and carry findings through to product and partner implementation.
  • Commercialize research. Take work beyond the experiment into product features, reporting frameworks, and go-to-market tools that deliver measurable value.
  • Consult with partners. Work directly with major client organizations to connect our product to their outcomes and apply behavioral science in ways that improve how they make decisions and how their people perform.
  • Influence across functions. Be the trusted voice between research, product, and go-to-market, and shape how the whole organization generates and applies insight.

About you

  • A PhD or equivalent depth in industrial-organizational psychology, behavioral or decision science, labor economics, or a related field.
  • A track record of applied research that changed a product, a decision, or a business outcome — not only a publication record.
  • Strong measurement and quantitative skills: survey and instrument design, psychometrics, causal and quasi-experimental methods, and real comfort with messy, real-world data.
  • The judgment to consult senior stakeholders and partners credibly, and the writing to make rigorous work land with a CHRO or a CFO.
  • A bias for ownership. You’re energized by ambiguous, integrative problems and you drive them to impact without waiting for a map.

Extra Credit

  • Domain depth in compensation, total rewards, or pay equity.
  • Published thought leadership or a public research voice.
  • Experience in a startup, an applied research lab, or a research-to-product environment.
  • Working fluency with data tools such as SQL, Python, or R.

Why you’ll love it here:

  • 💰 Competitive Compensation. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience and expertise. We take a geo neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location.
  • 🏆  Syndio Equity. So you can share in Syndio’s success.
  • 🏝  Flexible Vacation Policy. We encourage our team to recharge when they need to, plus paid sick & safe time, compassion leave, and voting leave.
  • Paid parental leave
  • 🩺  Medical, Dental, Vision. Syndio pays 90% of employee premiums, and 50% for dependents.
  • 🏥  Life Insurance & Disability. Syndio covers the full premium.
  • 🏦 401(k). To help you save for your future
  • Fully remote model - #LI-Remote
